Following the retirement of the Director, Directorate of Open Distance and E-learning from the service of the National Universities Commission last March, the Executive Secretary, has approved the appointment of Engineer Kayode Odedina as Ag. Director for a period of six months in the first instance. A letter from the directorate of the Executive Secretary’s Office stated that the appointment was made in recognition of his performance, loyalty and commitment.
Engr. Kayode Odedina [JP] is a Scientist, an Engineer, an ICT Practitioner and an Educationist. He is also an Administrator and a Quality Assurance Practitioner. He started his higher education journey at Ogun State Polytechnic, Abeokuta where he obtained ND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with Distinction in 1982. He proceeded to Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro after a year of work experience at Ogun State Television Corporation, Abeokuta where he obtained HND in Electrical Engineering (Electronics Option) with Upper Credit in 1985. Engr. Odedina obtained his M. Eng. in Electrical & Electronics Engineering (with specialisation in Telecommunication Systems Engineering) from the Anambra State University of Technology, Enugu in 1991. He also possesses an MBA in Technology Policy and Management of Ogun State University, Ago-Iwoye. Engr. Odedina holds a B.Sc. Degree in Information Technology of the National Open University of Nigeria as well as a Diploma in Management of Higher Education at the Galilee International Management Institute. He joined the services of the National Universities Commission in April 2002 as an Assistant Chief Hardware Engineer and rose steadily to the position of Deputy Director in 2010. He had acted as the Director, ICT in 2013/2014 and was later redeployed to the Department of Open and Distance Education in 2014.
