REMEDIES

1. There are only three (3) innovative courses in the curriculum. Rural Radiography, Community Health, Radionuclide Imaging are the only innovative courses in the curriculum.

2. Academic regulations exist but were not clear and were not publicized to the students.

3. Test and examinations do not adequately cover the curriculum.

4. Internal quality assurance system is not effective.

5. The staff to student ratio of 1:16.4 is not in line with the BMAS guidelines.

6. The proportion of staff core to the subject area provides for only 66.7% of the teaching staff need.

7. 50% of the teaching staff does not have the PhD degree.

8. 44.6% of the academic staff have not benefited from the Staff Development Programme.

9. Laboratory is inadequate in space and there is no Virtual Radiography System.

10. Offices for academic staff are inadequate in space.

11. Library journals are not current.

 

1. The University should ensure that the curriculum is enriched by the addition of at least four innovative courses without exceeding the maximum credit load.

2. Academic regulations should be clearly indicated and well publicized to students.

3. The University should ensure that tests and examinations adequately cover the curriculum.

4. The University should ensure that Internal Quality Assurance system is effective and minutes of meetings held should be properly documented.

5. The University should ensure a staff to student ratio of 1:15 for the programme.

6. The University should ensure that at least 75% of the teaching staff is core to the subject area.

7. The University should ensure that at least 70% of the teaching staff has the PhD degree.

8. The university should ensure that all academic staff benefit from the Staff Development Programme.

9. Adequate space should be provided and all essential equipment should be procured for the laboratory.

10. Standard and well-furnished office should be provides for all academic staff.

11. More current journals should be procured for the programme

 

The total score for the programme is 68.91%. It scored 24 (72.73%)  in Academic Matters, 24 (68.57%) in Staffing, 17 (62.96%) in Physical Facilities, 14 (77.78%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 0 (0.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored less than 70% in any of the four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme
