The Nigerian Universities have remained under pressure to rethink their relevance, civic engagements and competitive strategies in order to enhance their global visibility and forge a unique identity in the higher education space. In like manner, there are also insistent calls for higher levels of probity, accountability and transparency in all university functions. University Governing councils are pivotal in determining policies and providing leadership that will engender progress in the afore-mentioned.

Against this back drop and in her capacity as sole regulatory agency charged with the responsibility of ensuring orderly development of the Nigerian University System, the NUC in collaboration with two of its strategic partners, the Committee of Vice Chancellors (CVC) and the Committee of Pro Chancellors is organising a 2 day high level retreat themed ‘Elements of Statutory Governance, Procurement and Financial Accounting in Nigerian Universities ‘ for Councils of Federal Universities.

The retreat in scheduled to take place as follows:

Date: 8th and 9th May, 2018

Time: 9:00am Daily

Venue: Idris Abdulkadir Auditorium, National Universities Commission Secretariat, Abuja.

 

Each University is to be represented by 5 delegates to be led by the Pro Chancellor and Chairman of Council and must include the Vice Chancellor, one external Council member, the Registrar and the Bursar.
